Some of the sites around here are Cape Blanco Lighthouse. Oregon’s oldest and tallest. The Hughes House is close to Cape Blanco. The turnoff to both of these sites is five miles north of Port Orford.

In Port Orford itself is Battle Rock, where, in 1850 there was a battle between Captain William Titchner’s men and the local Indian tribe. Port Orford is the oldest town on the Oregon Coast. They just celebrated their 150th birthday.

There are so many events throughout the year in so many different towns a person could easily keep busy without a problem.

South of Port Orford at Arizona Beach is the famous Prehistoric Forest where huge dinosaurs are placed throughout a dense, primeval looking forest.

Things grow year round here on the Oregon coast. At almost any given time there is a plant blooming outside somewhere.
